Will I definitely find a lot of shells?

Our experienced guides will maximize your chances for a rewarding and fun experience, sharing tips to spot rare and beautiful specimens.

What happens if there is rain, lightning or high winds?

Weather Policy:
At Treasure Seekers Shell Tours, the safety and comfort of our guests are our top priorities. We closely monitor weather conditions to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Please review our weather policy below:

Rain Showers:
We do not cancel tours due to rain showers alone. Rain showers are common in Florida, especially during the summer months, so please be prepared for the possibility of getting wet. If your gear is not waterproof, our crew will be happy to store it in the boat’s dry storage areas. Our Captains utilize mobile weather monitoring systems with active alerts throughout the tours to stay informed of any developing weather conditions. Weather in Florida can change rapidly, and storms often pass quickly. If the weather involves more than just rain showers, tour departures may be briefly delayed to allow any rough conditions to pass, or we may adjust our destination and route to avoid the affected areas.

Lightning:
Lightning is a serious hazard in Florida, and we do not operate tours during storms with lightning. If there is lightning in the vicinity, we may have to cancel, reschedule, or delay the start of tours. Our protocol following a lightning strike is to take shelter for 30 minutes and then reassess the situation once the lightning has moved out of the area.

Small Craft Advisory (High Winds):
The National Weather Service issues Small Craft Advisories when high winds and rough waves are expected in the Gulf of America. Such conditions in the open gulf can make for an extremely uncomfortable and potentially dangerous boat ride. However, our experienced Captains may still be able to operate tours by utilizing the protected bays and waterways on the back side of the islands, offering a more comfortable experience even during a Small Craft Advisory in the open gulf. The decision to proceed with a tour under a Small Craft Advisory is solely at the discretion of the Captain, based on prevailing conditions and the safety and comfort of our guests. If the Captain determines that conditions are unsuitable for a safe and enjoyable tour, we will do our best to reschedule your tour or provide a full refund if rescheduling is not possible.

Captain’s Discretion:
Any and all weather-related cancellations, delays, or alterations to the tour are at the sole discretion of the Captain operating the boat. Weather decisions will be made by the Captain based on whether it is safe to conduct the trip, and you will be notified as soon as possible of any changes.

Tours Cut Short Due to Weather:
In the unfortunate event that a tour has to be cut short due to worsening weather conditions, we will refund you the difference in tour price based on the portion of the tour that was completed. If the tour is less than halfway complete, a partial refund will be issued. Please note that if the tour is more than halfway completed before being impacted by weather, no refund will be issued.

We appreciate your understanding that weather conditions are beyond our control, and these policies are in place to ensure your safety and the safety of our crew.
